Writing Assignment 12/17/19

Noah Chi Ms. Guarino IB Lit & Perf 12/17/19 My vision as a creator was to bend the mind of everyone, because even though it is following the same storyline, the ending is unexpected.  The elements I maintained were the emotions the wife had as well as the reason why she felt that way.  The original part of the story was changed in mine by an unexpected ending. The husband ends up staying alive just like in the original, but walks into a murder scene involving his neighbor and wife.  The twist is how the ending is completely different from what people expect. I love mind benders because the element of surprise is what makes me pick out my favorite movies.  The strongest part is the storyline. I feel like if I am actually able to portray this all in pictures, it would really stand out, but that is the hard part.  The weakest part is how I would actually be able to portray all the events into pictures. The Story of an Hour Modern Outline

Noah Chi Ms. Guarino IB Lit & Perf 12/09/19 Genre: The genre that I am most likely picking for my stage pictures is realistic fiction. The story itself is more out of place than usual, and I’m thinking of narrowing it down to make it more easy to realize what is going on. The person with the emotions will only have a few emotions compared the bazillion emotions that Ms. Mallard had.  Characters: The characters are probably going to have different names. We basically know that her first name is Louise, which is a name many people don’t use nowadays. So I was thinking of changing it to something like Lisa, close enough to the original. Brently will just be Brett, nothing more difficult than that. They all have their same roles but played in a more modern and realistic era. The neighbor is going to be a boy instead, with the name of Joe or Joseph.  Setting: The setting is going to be in an apartment in a city, NYC for example. It’s a very cloudy day where ...

Modernizing The Story of an Hour

If I were to modernize the short story "The Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin, I would say that it had something to do with a plane flight instead of a train wreck. The story would also be all over text instead of people talking to each other in person. Instead of him being super far away from his train, I would say that he missed his flight because he fell asleep right before. The wife dying at the end would be in shock instead of dying in joy.
